Brands and earmarks prove ownership of livestock but are not compulsory, except when cattle and pigs are being sold

Livestock entry requirements for Queensland
The Stock Act 1915 protects Queensland's livestock and livestock industries through controls on the introduction of stock from other states and territories

National Livestock Identification System (NLIS)
NLIS, the identification and traceability system for livestock, allows individual animals to be identified and tracked from their property of birth through to slaughter

Contact your local biosecurity inspector for information about travel permits, waybills, health certifications, brands and earmarks, NLIS-device application forms, vendor declarations and border crossing locations
