New ICA Operational Procedure for Inspection of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for Freedom From Fruit Fly

Accredited businesses now have an alternative to chemical treatment for market access to most parts of Victoria.

Victoria has introduced a new quarantine entry condition for fruit fly host produce entering the state from Queensland fruit fly endemic areas.

Fruit fly host produce can now enter most parts of Victoria once inspected and found free from the pest. This option is not accepted for entry into Victoria´s Pest Free Area.

A new Interstate Certification Assurance (ICA) Operational Procedure has received national agreement. Inspection of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for Freedom From Fruit Fly [ICA-47] allows accredited businesses to issue their own plant health assurance certificates to verify consignments entering Victoria comply with this new entry condition.

As an alternative to accreditation under the ICA Scheme, businesses consigning fruit fly host produce to Victoria can book a Plant Biosecurity Officer to inspect and certify the fruit for freedom Queensland fruit fly.
