Agri-Science Queensland
Agri-Science Queensland is a part of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
We invest in and conduct world-class science and assist with the application of science outcomes and innovations by agri-businesses. The aim is to provide lower cost, higher-quality food to consumers and to boost the economic performance and environmental sustainability of the Queensland food and agri-business sector.
Food and fibre industries are the world´s oldest, largest and most essential industries. They encompass all the processes necessary to produce and bring food and fibre products to the consumer.
Research and Development (R&D) is a critical factor in maximising the economic contribution of Queensland´s food and fibre industries. It must be geared to the needs of local industry and backed by cutting edge technologies that are sustainable and sensitive to consumer demands.
Key services of Agri-Science Queensland include:
- Research and development - new technologies and practices that keep Queensland´s agri-businesses ahead of the competition
- Technology adoption - rapid uptake to gain accelerated productivity growth and other early adoption advantages for Queensland
- Agri-science policy and industry development advice - clear direction providing certainty and confidence in the outcomes of government decision-making based on science which affects the food and agri-business sector
- Agri-business capacity building and training - information, knowledge and skills that equip agri-businesses to respond effectively to challenges and opportunities.
