Recreational fishing rules and regulations for Queensland

Fisheries Queensland and Maritime Safety Queensland have joined together to create a single boating and fishing guide. Download the Queensland Recreational Boating and Fishing Guide 2012-2013, or the recreational bag and size limits below.

The zoning plan for Moreton Bay Marine Park is available from the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing.

Anglers do not require a licence to fish recreationally in Queensland, except if fishing in some stocked impoundments. The content below provides detailed information on anglers' responsibilities when fishing in fresh waters and tidal waters. Fishing rules apply to all ages but children should be of an age where they can be responsible for the use of their own fishing gear.
